Veterans Day 2016 Events Near Barre, VT
Veterans Day is just around the corner and towns/cities all over the nation are gearing up to celebrate our heroes who so unselfishly served to keep us safe. There are plenty of Veterans Day events happening near Barre, VT for you to check out, and we thought that we would share a few of our favorites!
Barre Veterans Day Parade
The Veterans Day Parade has become a tradition here in Barre, and it will be taking place on Friday, November 11 at 10:30am! To find out where the parade route is located, please contact the Barre Elks at 802-479-9522.
Montpelier Veterans Day Parade
If you are willing to drive a little, Montpelier also offers a great Veterans Day Parade that starts at 9:30am on November 11. The parade route runs from the roundabout on Main Street, to State Street and Bailey Avenue, and will conclude at the Veteran’s Memorial.
South Burlington Veterans Day Ceremony
South Burlington High School will be hosting a ceremony honouring veterans at 10:00am on November 11. This event—which will be held in the school’s gymnasium—is meant to pay tribute to veterans and current military personnel. After the ceremony, a service will be held at 11:30am at the Veterans Memorial Park (Dorset Street). This is a public event and anyone is welcome to attend.
Healing a Soldier’s Heart Film Screening
The Peace & Justice Center—located at 60 Lake Street 1C in Burlington—will be hosting a screening of the Healing a Soldier’s Heart documentary on Sunday, November 13. This film discusses Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in veterans and military personnel. The film will start at 4:30pm, but you are welcome to come an hour early for refreshments and to hear the story of a now-deceased WWII veteran. A $10 donation is requested and the event is free for veterans. More information can be found here.
